Many times a full bathroom
renovation is the best way to add some spice and rejuvenate the life of your bathroom. Taking showers in the
bath or in an old and outdated shower can be unpleasant. So, with a corner shower kit, you can turn your old
shower or bath into a fully functional shower that's not only great to use, but is also aesthetically pleasing
and can add value to your home.
Replacing your shower or
adding a new one is not a project you want to take on right away but with a few how-to manuals and the right
tools, installing a new shower can be a manageable weekend task for you or your contractor.
A corner shower kit (often
interchangeably called a corner shower stall or corner shower unit) come packed with everything you need to set up the new
shower. They come with the walls, base, and tiles to begin installing immediately if you're so inclined. They
normally measure about nine or ten square feet for the base, although much larger ones can be custom ordered if
you're interested.
The majority of corner shower
units are built with an aluminum frame or something similar that gets painted silver. This gives them an all
around appeal and styling to appease any bathroom. The walls are typically built with privacy glass that
prevents people on the inside or outside from seeing in or out.
You can more than likely
purchase corner shower stalls that either have handles or a sliding glass door set. Opting for the handle option
requires extra room in the bathroom to open the shower door outwards so you can enter. If you don't have the
space or don't like the idea of the shower taking up more space than necessary, the sliding glass door is a
great alternative.
Depending on how you set
the shower kit up, you may be able to attach half of the shower to an existing tiled wall. This would provide a
very unique half and half effect between the glass and the tile. Also, if you ever wanted to install a wall
mounted soap dish or shampoo holder, you'd have the option with the available tile space.
Corner Shower Stalls and Units - Buying
Considerations
Buying a corner shower
stall online can be a daunting task, but is certainly do-able. Because they're quite a bit of money, you should
be wary who you buy from. The package is more than just your average model kit. It will have all of the parts
you need to build your very own shower.
Shipping may be expensive,
or could be thrown in for free, depending upon which site you buy from. Typically, corner shower units cost
anywhere between $1000 or $1500. With shipping and tax, these numbers could be much more.
If possible, head down to a
store that sells shower fixtures and kits to see how the one you're looking to buy will end up looking. If
you're satisfied, you may be able to get a good deal on the same kit online when you go back and price compare.
Always buy from reputable dealers and when you're dealing with this amount of money, keep a record of what you
spent.
